About the Journal

The Journal of Coloproctology (JCOL) is the official scientific publication of the Brazilian Society of Coloproctology (https://sbcp.org.br/) and Portuguese Society of Coloproctology (https://www.spcoloprocto.org/), published by Thieme. It focuses on studies in coloproctology and related medical fields. Its intended readership includes colorectal surgeons, gastroenterologists, general surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, researchers, and medical trainees.

JCOL is published quarterly, with issues released in March, June, September, and December. The journal accepts a variety of article types, including original research, clinical case reports, reviews, editorials, special articles, and letters to the editor. Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution license (CC BY), which allows sharing and adaptation with proper attribution. Authors retain the copyright to their work, while granting Thieme the right to publish it.

JCOL requires that authors follow the ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly work in Medical Journals. More information can be found here: https://www.icmje.org
